About Vet

A 1996 graduate of The Ohio State University, Dr Lane has been practicing veterinary medicine for nearly 3 decades and has spent most of her working years with a busy rural practice in southeast Ohio where she learned that veterinary medicine is just as much about people as it is about animals. In the beginning, she put her hands on whatever animals she could: from hamsters to Guinea pigs, turtles to snakes, parrakeets to ostriches, sheep and goats to cows and horses; however, she eventually honed down her focus to dogs and cats. She refers to herself as a companion animal veterinarian and developed her skills to become a very proficient soft tissue surgeon while also discovering that she had a special ability and patience to handle the more complex and difficult of hospital cases. Dr Lane is known by her clients to be a veterinarian who listens and nurtures and cares deeply for her animal patients and human clients.

In 2020 Dr Lane developed chronic illness, after which she stepped into veterinary relief work in order to better support the needs of her health but still allowed her to practice. In 2022, Dr Lane spent some time working with Lap of Love Veterinary Hospice Service as a hospice and palliative care veterinarian and discovered a joy in the work of caring for animal companions who were in their latter seasons of life due to age or illness, while companioning with their humans who loved them deeply. It was her experiences in the homes that led her to make the decision to carve out a niche in hospice and palliative care as a veterinarian that ministered to the bond between people and their pets while providing support and care to both sides of that bond. And in 2024 she began taking steps to make those plans into a reality.

Dr Lane is a Fear Free Professional who has recently completed coursework through AIHCP that will better qualify her in the support of others who are walking through the grief of pet loss. She has also begun additional training with the Animal Hospice Group to become a certified Companion Animal Hospice and Palliative Care Practitioner.

Her work in veterinary telehealth follow along with her desire to assist pet owners with caring for their animal family members by providing support, advice and guidance.

When not working or studying, Dr Lane enjoys spending time outdoors with her canine-compadre Winnie. She also enjoys dabbling in several creative crafts, such as coil weaving and cross-stitching. Dr Lane is an amateur photographer and writer who wouldn't mind putting those developing skills to good use. She is an Ohio native who currently resides in Circleville.
