About Vet

Dr. McCaffrey is a Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Veterinarian. Her clinical practice is limited to hospice and palliative medicine. She is the owner of an integrative in-home veterinary practice "Senior Pet Vet". She is excited to extend this valuable service to the Vetster community.

After working in the veterinary profession for two decades Dr. McCaffrey has recognized a significant gap in senior pet care. With all of the incredible advances in veterinary medicine, she noticed how often pet parents felt lost when their beloved companion received a chronic or terminal diagnosis. Without resources to assess what all of their options were and what might be best for their individual situation, many pet families began to feel helpless.

Dr. McCaffrey recognizes the need for an extended amount of time in order to fully assess the desires and needs of the family and their pet. After meeting with the family, a customized care plan is developed and can be shared with everyone involved in your pets care: veterinarians, trainers, groomers, caretakers, etc. Dr McCaffrey is also here to help navigate end of life decisions with you for your pet.

Dr McCaffrey's vision is to bridge the critical gap between diagnosis of chronic and/or terminal disease and end of life for our pets. We have the ability to greatly improve the quality of life for our aging pets by utilizing an integrative model of care. Incorporating high quality traditional medicine with useful and effective alternative modalities such as acupuncture, physical medicine and environmental enrichment, we are able to greatly expand the once narrow path towards end of life.
