About Vet

Hello, I am Dr. Abbate. I have owned my own practice in Florida for 30+ years. I practice small animal medicine, which is 99% dogs and cats and I have studied traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture I have a special interest in problems associated with skin and ears, and intestinal disturbances, causing vomiting and diarrhea, and urinary abnormalities such as UTI and inappropriate urination. In addition to practicing full-time in a complete medical and surgical facility, I’ve had a lot of experience with veterinary telemedicine since the COVID pandemic, and I have consulted over 2000 client’s about their pets.

My background: I was born in New York and grew up mostly in Darien, Connecticut. I attended Michigan State University for two years of pre-vet classes, then transferred to Auburn University. I finished my bachelors degree, as well as post-graduate training in animal sciences, physiology and nutrition, and my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1989.

He took care of our situation all the way and diagnosed it all the way to its end and wrote a prescriptions that we can get mailed directly to our house so everything was handled well.

This was my first time using Vetster and I was able to get an appointment within about 30 minutes of signing up. I did join Vester + because it seemed like a no-brainer. For the cost of two visits I get four visits a year plus unlimited texting with a vet or vet tech and it can be used for all of my animals which is very nice because I have two dogs and three cats! Dr. Abbate was very knowledgeable and suggested a long term plan to get my dog allergies and itchy skin under control in addition to the immediate need. I also love that I can get right back to the same vet for a follow up! So happy that I found Vester!
