About Vet

Hello, I am Dr. Abbate. I have owned my own practice in Florida for 30+ years. I practice small animal medicine, which is 99% dogs and cats and I have studied traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture I have a special interest in problems associated with skin and ears, and intestinal disturbances, causing vomiting and diarrhea, and urinary abnormalities such as UTI and inappropriate urination. In addition to practicing full-time in a complete medical and surgical facility, I’ve had a lot of experience with veterinary telemedicine since the COVID pandemic, and I have consulted over 2000 client’s about their pets.

My background: I was born in New York and grew up mostly in Darien, Connecticut. I attended Michigan State University for two years of pre-vet classes, then transferred to Auburn University. I finished my bachelors degree, as well as post-graduate training in animal sciences, physiology and nutrition, and my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1989.

Dr. Abbate is a kind and gentle soul who took the time to answer all of my questions thoroughly. He was open to new information and approached our visit with genuine compassion. It was clear he truly loves what he does. We even bonded over our shared love of Boxers. I felt seen and heard as a pet owner and Brody was in good hands. Five stars without hesitation.
