Dr. Robert Macarthur

I was raised on a farm, with the early desire to become a large animal vet. I am a 1968 graduate of Kansas State University, College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, I spent close to 3 years in the Republic of the Philippines, courtesy of the US Air Force where I established a sentry dog program, and a small animal clinic for client’s dogs, cats, monkeys and birds and expanded my time in flying airplanes. Upon return to USA, I moved into an Oregon large animal practice. Within 1 ½ years I bought my first practice, later developed a central hospital/emergency clinic and then added a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th location. In 1996 I sold my practices and became the senior practicing partner in Washington and Oregon for VetSmart, currently called Banfield. From 2000 to 2016 I was the Consulting Veterinarian for OPR Primate Rescue. Always intrigued by learning, I was honored to be selected to be part of the North American Veterinary Conference (NAVC) Board of Director’s. In 1998- 99 I was elected president of the NAVC. Under our direction the newly named VMX has become the largest Veterinary Medical Education Conference in the world with 16,000 to 28,000 in attendance annually. I am comfortable with most all species and ailments, I am ready to consult about your pet’s current problems and make a recommendation for a therapeutic protocol for treatment.
