About Vet

PLEASE DO NOT SCHEDULE IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A PRESCRIPTION IF YOU ARE NOT IN CALIFORNIA OR FLORIDA *!!!!!IMPORTANT PLEASE READ BEFORE SCHEDULING!!!!!

Veterinary practice acts are state specific and regulate what can qualify as a veterinarian-client-patient relationship (VCPR). A VCPR is REQUIRED in order to prescribe medications legally. Currently, VERY FEW states allow for a virtual visit to qualify as a VCPR in order to prescribe medication. WITH THE EXCEPTION OF CALIFORNIA and FLORIDA, all of the states that I am licensed in (Oregon, North Carolina) do not allow legal prescribing of medications without an in-person physical exam. I cannot prescribe medications for your pet unless I have examined them in-person within the last 12 months. If you are not in these states above or want more info on your state please look at link below, you may need to book with a doctor in your state if VCPR is allowed

https://vvca.org/resources/telemedicine-map/

I do believe long term medication should be managed and approved by primary veterinarian in your local area (chronic allergy medication, seizure medication, treatment for chronic systemic illnesses, etc) - please keep in mind prescribing is at the doctors discretion and comfort level and there are always limitations to telemedicine. I am not comfortable prescribing virtually any medication that is a controlled drug (seizure medication, some cough medication, etc), a medication that requires chronic blood monitoring (thyroid medication, heartworm medication, oxygen tanks, etc), for a systemic condition that has not yet been diagnosed/requires testing to diagnose or anything that may pose harm or be inappropriate for your pet. I will not prescribe heartworm prevention virtually as it requires an annual test which you need to do at your local vet. I will be happy to discuss behavior concerns but feel it is up to your vet to prescribe and manage any behavior medication your pet may be on. I will not prescribe or refill any anxiety/behavior medication

Additionally, in order to establish VCPR for prescription, your pet MUST be present for the virtual visit, if you cannot coordinate your pet to be present, please schedule when you are able to do so - no exceptions, it’s the law!

Dr. helped me figure out what symptoms would constitute an emergency, and saved me a trip to the ER on a Saturday night.

I was able to get an appointment with Dr. Alain within an hour for a scab in my kittens nose that we thought might infected or be ringworm. She was able to determine it was likely not ringworm nor infected, just slow healing. I felt very reassured after, and she also gave us some great tips in general care for the new kitten. Amazing service. Way better than waiting weeks to get a vet appointment. Five stars.
