About Vet

I have been a small animal veterinarian for 33 years, working as an associate and then owning and operating a busy 6-doctor practice in the Philadelphia suburbs, with a focus on pain management and surgery. My special interest is in the identification and treatment of pain - I became a Certified Veterinary Pain Practitioner (CVPP) in 2011, and lecture nationally to veterinarians and vet nurses on techniques of identifying pain, and also the use of laser therapy and other non-pharma tools for the treatment of pain. I am a past-president of the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management.

Happily, I am now settled in beautiful AZ, with my husband and two rescue dogs and an adopted Sonoran Desert Tortoise (ask me about them!). I provide volunteer veterinary care to the Salt River Wild Horse Management group, and to a local cat rescue. A little of my love for animals must have rubbed off on our daughters, as one is an ER/ICU credentialed veterinary technician, and the other is a marine biologist.

Telemedicine fills a great void in veterinary medicine - my goal is to help you through any emergent concern, and work together to determine the best course of action for you and your beloved pet.

Please note: Unfortunately, per licensing laws, I am only able to prescribe medications to patients from Arizona, Florida and Texas. I can only give general advice for patients from other states.

Dr Johnson was wonderful. My rescue is overprotective of me and causes drama in the vet office. Noticed affected areas on skin at 9pm on a Saturday night. She was able to diagnose and treat the problem. Explained thoroughly each of the possibilities, how infections react, what to watch for, suggestions and answers for questions that i may have after the fact. Excellent visit. Great backup to my regular vet whose office isn't open until Monday and visit would be 1-4 days out with scheduling time, not having to take time off of work.
