About Vet

I have been a small animal veterinarian for 33 years, working as an associate and then owning and operating a busy 6-doctor practice in the Philadelphia suburbs, with a focus on pain management and surgery. My special interest is in the identification and treatment of pain - I became a Certified Veterinary Pain Practitioner (CVPP) in 2011, and lecture nationally to veterinarians and vet nurses on techniques of identifying pain, and also the use of laser therapy and other non-pharma tools for the treatment of pain. I am a past-president of the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management.

Happily, I am now settled in beautiful AZ, with my husband and two rescue dogs and an adopted Sonoran Desert Tortoise (ask me about them!). I provide volunteer veterinary care to the Salt River Wild Horse Management group, and to a local cat rescue. A little of my love for animals must have rubbed off on our daughters, as one is an ER/ICU credentialed veterinary technician, and the other is a marine biologist.

Telemedicine fills a great void in veterinary medicine - my goal is to help you through any emergent concern, and work together to determine the best course of action for you and your beloved pet.

My dog and I had a great visit with Dr. Johnson! Ok, maybe it was great for me and he was just happy to be on my lap! lol Dr. Johnson alleviated a lot of the anxiety I was feeling, worrying that my puppy might have prostate cancer. It was great to talk through his symptoms, have her see his behavior, and even inspect his gums on video. Getting a prescription called in and ready for pick-up in the morning was also a benefit. I highly recommend Dr. Johnson!!
