About Vet

I have been working as an exotic animal veterinarian in private practice since 2015. I graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine with an emphasis in Zoological Medicine. I exclusively treat exotic pets and wildlife. My special interest is reptile surgery -- it's my favorite thing to do! I enjoy working with lizards, snakes, turtles, birds, rabbits, ferrets, and rodents.

In addition to my work in private practice, I am the the veterinarian for an Atlanta-area wildlife center. I have extensive experience working with native Southeastern wildlife.

Most health problems with exotic pets begin with husbandry challenges. I'm here to help answer husbandry questions to help give your pet the best chance for a long, healthy, happy life. I can provide general advice about specific disease processes, signs and symptoms, diagnostic testing, treatment options, and outcomes and expectations for different health problems.

I can also help with teletriage. Sometimes it is difficult to know how urgent a health concern is with exotic animals. Some problems are emergencies, in which case I will direct you to an emergency veterinarian. Other problems may wait until the next available appointment with your local veterinarian. A physical exam is critically important in getting a good diagnosis for an exotic pet, so in most cases I will recommend a visit to a veterinarian for an in-person physical and diagnostic work-up.

Unfortunately, in Georgia we cannot diagnose or treat (or prescribe!) for a pet without a valid in-person physical exam. If you live in the metro-Atlanta area, come see me in person at For Pet's Sake in Decatur!

Outside of veterinary medicine, I am an avid rock climber and hiker. I love to be outside. I live in Decatur with my husband, an old hound dog, two cats, and a Russian tortoise.
