Virtual veterinary care has expanded flexibility for pet parents and veterinarians alike, through thorough history-taking and a visual virtual examination, I will come up with a plan for your pet's specific situation which may include a short-course of empiric treatment until you can get in to see your regular veterinarian. However, many situations require a more immediate in-person examination, additional diagnostic testing, treatment(s), etc. for your pet's best outcome - if this is the case, I will guide you on the best next steps for your pet's care.

If provided with recent medical records, I am also happy to give second opinions or further elaborate on recently diagnosed conditions, lab work, etc.

I earned my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree in 2021 from the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech. My professional interests include preventive medicine, soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, and public health.

I have been to severallll doctors over the 11 years of my dog’s life, and Doctor Portillo is by far the absolute best. I’ve never met a more thorough doctor. He explains everything to the T. Focuses on preventative care and solving the root of the problem rather than just treating symptoms. I wish all doctors were like this. We need more Dr. Portillo’s in this world.
