I earned my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech. My professional interests include preventive medicine, soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, and public health.

The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the need for expanded virtual veterinary care and I am happy to help respond to this demand by reaching more people, addressing their concerns, and caring for their pets. Through thorough history-taking, coupled with a visual virtual examination, I will help get your pet started on empirical treatment and guide recommended next steps.

Outside of veterinary medicine, I really enjoy traveling, exploring different cultures, learning languages, and participating in various outdoor sports.

I have been to severallll doctors over the 11 years of my dog’s life, and Doctor Portillo is by far the absolute best. I’ve never met a more thorough doctor. He explains everything to the T. Focuses on preventative care and solving the root of the problem rather than just treating symptoms. I wish all doctors were like this. We need more Dr. Portillo’s in this world.

Absolutely adore him, he’s very good with knowledge of issues your animal could be having and he was able to help prescribe medication for my cats issue so that I didn’t have to go to the vet in person. Highly recommend him!
