I exclusively work with exotic companion mammals (rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, gerbils, hedgehogs, chinchillas, sugar gliders, ferrets etc.), reptiles, and birds. I work with these species on a daily basis and do not treat cats and dogs. I also live with both a rabbit (harlequin) and a hamster (syrian) who are spoiled rotten!
I understand that exotic animal medicine is not like cat and dog medicine.... many of these conditions are insidious and can be scary. Our animals are the very best at hiding any kind of illness so even the smallest bit of information can change everything for your animals treatment. Early intervention is key, however, it is becoming more and more difficult to find specialty trained veterinarians. I hope to be able to help in any way I can to close this gap. Whether it be to treat primarily, chat about general care, or advise until an in-person consult can be found.
