About Vet

HELLO! I am Dr. Carol Yeisley. I grew up in Pennsylvania from a family that goes back generations in farming and coal mining. My love of animals started from a very early age and I have been involved with animals all my life. I started as a veterinary assistant and volunteer in junior high and have been involved in many many things through all the years. I have graduate education in biochemistry and biophysics as well. I have been in clinical practice, research, shelter and rescue medicine, wildlife research and many other areas. I am also USDA certified level 1 and 2, CWD certified for deer, and DEA licensed. I have owned many different types of animals over the years including dogs, cats, numerous birds and fowl, various reptiles, as well as horses and small ruminants. I have worked closely with zoos and been involved in wildlife rehabilitation. For many years I raised and trained German Shepherds and competed in obedience, herding and tracking. I also learned basic falconry. And for a period of time I was an adjunct professor in wildlife and exotic medicine. I had spent many trips voluteering with a group from Pennsylvania providing veterinary services to the native american reservations and other underserved places. Then as my daughter became more and more involved in her equestrian pursuits, we started taking in former racehorses and retraining them to be hunter/jumper and 4H show horses. That of course led to helping out some other horses as well to prevent them from going to slaughter sales. So from parakeets to percherons...I have had to care for a lot of different animals coming from all sorts of backgrounds themselves. I now presently reside mainly in Arizona but also spend time in Texas and Iowa, (although I am still a Pennsylvanian at heart). I live on my family's ranch with the menagerie of critters and continue working with various rescue, shelter and rehabilitation groups. I will accept appointments for pretty much any type of animal (except venomous species!) There is a request to book 12 hours in advance so I can be sure to have internet access. However if you have an urgent need please try contacting Vetster customer service and see if they are able to contact me ( I may be outside collecting eggs from the chickens and ducks!!!). I know it is difficult to find veterinarians who are comfortable with the exotic and less common species so I try to be available for that need. Hope you and your companions have a healthy and joyful day!
