About Vet

Hi! I’m Dr. Aleks Canseco, a small animal and exotic animal veterinarian with more than 15 years of hands-on experience caring for animals. I graduated from the University of Sydney in 2013 and completed an internship in Small Animal and Exotic Animal General Practice and Emergency Medicine in California. Before becoming a veterinarian, I worked as a veterinary technician while attending veterinary school and was also involved in wildlife rescue and rehabilitation. I care for dogs and cats as well as rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas and other rodents, ferrets, birds, reptiles, amphibians, hedgehogs, pot-bellied pigs, and other exotic pets. My special interests include exotic animal medicine, nutrition and husbandry, preventive care, emergency medicine, and helping pet parents better understand their animals’ health and behavior. I also teach Exotic Animal Emergency and Critical Care Medicine to veterinary interns. I am an Elite Fear Free Certified Professional in canine, feline, and avian medicine and a Fear Free Coach. I strive to provide practical, compassionate, individualized care while making veterinary experiences as comfortable and low-stress as possible for both pets and their people.

***PLEASE NOTE: I am currently licensed to practice veterinary medicine in CALIFORNIA ONLY. For clients located outside of California, I am happy to provide general veterinary guidance and educational information; however, I am unable to formally diagnose patients or prescribe medications outside of the state of California.

For California patients, the patient must be present and visible during the video consultation in order to establish a valid veterinarian-client-patient relationship (VCPR), which is required for diagnosis and prescribing medications.
