About Vet

I graduated vet school from the University of Pennsylvania. Following veterinary school, I completed a rotating internship at The Animal Medical Center, one of the most premier small animal hospitals in the country. I then matched for a surgical internship at Friendship Hospital for Animals in Washington, DC where I managed complex post-surgical cases, performed emergency surgery, and assisted in complex surgery under the guidance of board certified veterinary surgeons. I am currently completing a research fellowship at The University of Tennessee in small animal orthopedics and rehabilitation. My ultimate goal is to specialize in small animal specialty surgery. I am eager to share my experience and expertise in small animal medicine (dogs and cats) by assisting and treating those animals in need here.

This was the first time I ever did an online appointment and I had the best experience the veterinarian she was knowledgeable. Dr. Shira was amazing! My Cavalier King Charles had an ear infection. Dr. Shira spent time with me to explain all the reasons my dog my be struggling with frequent ear infections. She did not rush and made sure that I understood everything that she went over. I would highly recommend booking an appointment with her.
