Educational background:
University of Colorado, Boulder Colorado State University: B.S in Biological Science, Cum Laude 1991 Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine, Doctorate in 1995
Since my graduation I have made it a point to gain a wide range of experience in multiple disciplines. However, I do limit my practice to small animals, in particular focusing on dogs and cats.
I have extensive experience in general practice, emergency hospitals, specialty hospitals, as well as humane societies and high volume spay/neuter work. Additionally, I operated a mobile surgical practice for over 10 years, focusing primarily on advanced orthopedics and soft tissue surgery.
My love for teaching also lead me to work in three different universities: Mexico, Bolivia, and Saint Kitts. I have also worked extensively with students in Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Belize, Mexico, and Bolivia. The students assisted in running numerous free medical clinics where we serviced primarily under privileged communities. This extensive experience abroad also resulted in my working for several years with medical education companies producing educational materials for veterinarians and students.
The end result of all of my travels is that I have a broad base of experience in multiple cultures, experience in a huge variety of clinic settings, and now have numerous international friends and connections.
On a more personal note, I am very active in the outdoors. I love hiking, camping, kayaking, travel and I am also a certified scuba diving instructor. I raise chickens, turkeys, have a large green house and much of my life is focused on sustainable living which is something I am quite passionate about. Additionally I have a podcast that has been active for over two years, the Adventures in Sustainable Living.
As you can see, I choose to challenge myself in multiple ways. But this also means I bring a lot to the table.
