About Vet

I am a current veterinarian performing mixed animal medicine as well as exotic animal medicine and advising state and local agencies on wildlife disease management and population conservation. I am extremely passionate about helping ALL kinds of animals and my best days are when I can see farm animals, dogs/cats, and reptiles/birds or other exotics in the same day! I believe in a comprehensive root cause based approach to veterinary medicine where we aren’t just treating symptoms but are getting to the root cause of your pet’s health issues to ensure they have the best life possible. I also believe holistic approaches to pet care can be very beneficial when used correctly. I can’t wait to meet you and your pet!

I tend to get off work late as I work in healthcare, and sometimes making it to the vet can be tricky. I heard about Dr. Prather from some coworkers who take their pets to him and I was very interested in meeting him firsthand. I had some concerns regarding my dog’s diet, and as a Dietititan I wanted to ensure my dog was eating as healthy as he can. Dr. Prather was super informative and passionate about what he does and made things so easy and clear to understand. I felt like he really cared about me and my dog without having even met us in person. Telehealth was a super cool tool and so convenient for me. He even did a physical exam during our visit and assured me that my dog was healthy from his teeth to his stomach to his hips. Thanks again Dr. Prather, looking forward to our next virtual appointment already.

Dr. Prather has helped us tremendously with navigating the proper care of our flock of 50 sheep. Before meeting us or our flock, he took the time to talk us through and teach us to deliver stuck lambs over the phone for about an hour. His willingness to help us in a predicament left a great impression. Since then Dr. Prather has helped educate us on common diseases in sheep, how to treat them, how to prevent them and helped us work our whole flock, trimming hooves, vaccinating & checking FAMACHA scores. We are very happy to have him helping us care for our flock!
