Graduated cum laude at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1985. Recipient of The Everingham Price for Cardiology and inducted into Phi-Zeta national veterinary honor society in 1985. Continuous practice of small animal surgery and medicine since 1985 with special interests, continued education and clinical experience in orthopedic and soft tissue surgery as well as minimally invasive surgery both therapeutic and diagnostic. First Santa Barbara veterinarian to offer advanced orthopedic surgery such as TPO, TPLO, Radial/Ulnar Osteotomy for angular limb defects, advanced Internal fracture fixation as well as minimally invasive surgery such as endoscopy, arthroscopy, laproscopy, bronchoscopy and thoracoscopy. Completed A.O. Basic and Masters orthopedic courses offered by Synthese as well as the Arthroscopic, Laparoscopic and Thoroscopic continuing education courses offered by Colorado State university and numerous C.E. annual meetings. Trained in TPLO technology by Dr Bart Slocum as well as Synthese and Ao-Asif. Trained by Dr Robert Olds and Synthese in TPO technology. Numerous annual continuing education meetings in internal medicine and advanced soft tissue and orthopedic surgery. Trained by Sound Technologies in basic and advanced abdominal ultrasound and cardiac ultrasound. After graduating with a Bs. In Biology from Clarion University in 1977, began a PhD in Immunology with the University of Pennsylvania. Completed PhD course work in 1981 with a 4.0 GPA, then entered veterinary school. In 1978 began a position as the clinical immunology laboratory supervisor and minor clinical laboratory medicine lecturer for the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary School. In 1983, while in veterinary school, held a summer fellowship position with Smith Klein and Beckmann’s research and development department for the development of an animal model to better understand the mechanism of primary idiopathic hypertension in humans. Practiced clinical veterinary medicine and surgery in larger multi doctor practices in New Jersey from 1985 through 1994. In October 1994 purchased LaConcepcion Animal Hospital in Goleta California and sold the practice in 2019 to free up time to travel.
