About Vet: Dr. Jan Jose Merchan Bello was born in the island of Puerto Rico. Dr. Merchan was raised on a culturally enriched Hispanic household being son of a Puerto Rican mother and a Colombian father. Dr. Merchan has a bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Technology from the University of Puerto Rico, Medical Science Campus. After months working as a veterinary technician in an emergency clinic, Dr. Merchan got accepted into Ross School of Veterinary Medicine. May 2021, Dr. Merchan completed his doctorate degree with highest honors. During his academic career as a veterinary student, Dr. Merchan obtained several academic achievement awards and scholarships. Dr. Jan Jose Merchan Bello has multiple interests within the veterinary field including surgery, internal medicine, diagnostics imaging and preventive care. In addition to small animals, he loves and enjoys equine veterinary medicine. Dr. Merchan takes pleasure in spending time with his family and friends. During his free time, you will find him playing basketball, at the beach, working out at the gym, or planning his next trip destination where he can experience new culinary delights.
