Hi, my name is Austin Byrd!

I am a proud member of the inaugural graduating class of the Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine. I graduated with my DVM in May of 2025, however, I have worked in veterinary medicine for 13 years. I enjoy all aspects of clinical practice; however, my clinical interests include orthopedic conditions—specifically joint replacement, and orthopedic surgery, neurologic conditions, as well as endocrine disorders.

I licensed in Texas and can offer medical advice and direction for people within the state of Texas. Dr Byrd helped me with our cat today and was very transparent with treatment options, down to earth and friendly! It was easy to understand his advice and directions. He asked relevant questions, listened to my concerns, and was 100% present during the conversation, which was especially appreciated. He offered follow up assistance should we need it and the appointment over all was just a great experience! Highly recommended!

Dr Byrd was great and a wealth of information about the ins and outs of the online vet service as I was a first time user. Dr Byrd was very knowledgeable in helping me with discussion of treatment needs for my pet and why the treatment would be necessary. The online system was easy to use, surprisingly, as I am not a tech savy person. I was a bit disappointed that I was unable to get an antibiotic for my pet until I could get into a vet as I am in a remote location and it was close to the weekend but over all it was a pretty good experience.

Dr. Byrd asked very pertinent questions to evaluate Sonny and his leg issue. He was reassuring that we are treating Sonny appropriately, that Sonny was not in any immediate veterinary need, and the signs to look for if things take a turn. Dr. Byrd gave us specific advice on how to make Sonny comfortable for the next few days and to reach out to our regular vet if we see specific signs of further injury. This virtual visit saved us time and money on an emergency vet visit. I recommend Vetster for this reason alone! But I also recommend Dr. Byrd for his attention to detail and care.
