About Vet

Dr. Kelman was born in Moscow, Russia but spent most of her childhood in Maryland. During her undergraduate years at the University of Maryland, College Park, she published immunology research and also spent time in Australia working with flying foxes and koalas. From there, she moved to California to attend UC Davis Veterinary School. During veterinary school, she served as an officer for Mercer Clinic for Pets of the Homeless, helping to deliver wellness care and spay/neuter services. She then completed a rotating internship at East Bay Veterinary Specialists in Walnut Creek where she worked side by side with specialists, honing her ultrasound, medicine, and surgery skills, as well as seeing a busy caseload of emergencies. Dr. Kelman started at Berkeley Dog and Cat working exclusively in the emergency department. While she enjoys the unpredictable challenges of emergency medicine, she is excited to have the opportunity to build relationships with the families who come back to see her now that she is also working general practice days. She has completed additional training in ultrasound, dentistry, and surgery and strives to keep learning every day. In her free time, she enjoys skiing, hiking, rock climbing, chasing around her toddler, and training her cat, Albie, in agility.
