Dr. Michelle Lapera was born and raised in New York. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Delaware, where she studied Animal Science and Biology. She obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (VMD) at the University of Pennsylvania and has been practicing in northern Virginia for the past 11 years, treating dogs and cats. Her areas of interests include: preventative medicine, emergency medicine, dentistry, and surgery. Her goal is to provide quality care for each pet and their family.

Outside of work, Dr. Lapera enjoys hiking and traveling. She has 4 dogs-a 14 year old Husky named Bella, a 9 year old Lab mix named Chance, a 7 year old Collie mix named Marbles, and a Husky puppy named Mika.

Our dog had a swollen face. All of the ER vets booked. Dr. Lapera walked us through a self exam - let us know some Benadryl should help the dog. And to look out for swelling in the neck. trouble breathing. and to let ER vet know that he needs to be seen right away.

Dr. Lapera was great and immediately addressed the cause of my cat's ear rash. She prescribed the appropriate medication which Vetster is able to fill and ship. I will definitely use her again. So wonderful to have this telemed available when it's difficult to personally visit the vet! Well worth it!

Dr. Lapera was so kind and put our minds at ease when my dogs tail went limp and he wasn’t being himself on a camping trip. Labor Day weekend hundreds of miles from our vet, she took the time to listen to everything that happened for the last 24 hours, asked some questions about his activity and put my mind at ease that he is not in serious trouble and has just been having too much fun playing in the lake and likely has swimmers tail. Gave me enough information to stop panicking and enjoy the weekend with my pups, as well as what to watch for that could indicate something truly worrisome. 10/10. Loved our chat, love that she didn’t laugh much when I said I was worried he broke his back in a way that somehow only paralyzed his tail despite literally nothing happening to him other than chasing a ball in the water.

My dog usually gets an ear infection every summer. He started showing the typical signs and my vet couldn't get us an appointment until a month out. I found Vetster online and made an appointment with Dr. Michelle. She was very nice, listened and was able to see his ear with the video, and we have a prescription coming. Would definitely use this service again!
