About Vet

Dr. Dwertman graduated from The Ohio State University's College of Veterinary Medicine in 2013. Although, she began her veterinary career long before that. After being given her very first dog in 2005, she began working as a veterinary assistant at a clinic in Tennessee. On her first day, she knew. She knew that she wanted to be a veterinarian and subsequently worked her way from kennel assistant to veterinarian, working every job in between; receptionist, office manager, and technician.

Dr. Dwertman has worked in small animal general practice for the past 20 years. She currently resides in Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati area and owns her own veterinary relief business, practicing in clinic part time and practicing virtually for those unable to make in person visits. She spends her "off" time with her family which includes her husband and her 3 small children.

She maintains that educating pet owners is the most important aspect of veterinary medicine and therefore finds Vetster to be an invaluable tool to do just that. Her priority is spending quality time with pet owners discussing how they can best help their furry family member.

I cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Julie Dwterman. She took her time with Sherlock, listened to all of our concerns, and really helped us understand what might be causing his anxiety and paw-licking. She never rushed the appointment and explained every option clearly, including both short-term and long-term ways to help him feel calmer and more comfortable. After months of feeling brushed off elsewhere, Dr. Dwterman was the first vet who truly partnered with us. Sherlock is already doing better, and we’re incredibly grateful for her compassion, patience, and dedication. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a vet who genuinely cares.
