About Vet

Dr. Emily Dirr is a large animal veterinarian who currently practices in Ames, IA. She was born and raised in southern Ohio. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Integrated Life Sciences from Kent State University and Master of Science degree in Anatomy from Wright State University before graduating from The Ohio State University with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. After veterinary school, she decided to pursue additional advanced training. She completed a 1 year internship with the Food Animal Reproduction and Medicine Service at the University of Florida. While in Florida, she spent some time practicing small animal medicine with the Humane Society of North Central Florida. She is currently practicing at Iowa State University as a Large Animal Internal Medicine Resident.

Outside of work she enjoys cave diving, spending time with her family (now over Zoom), and exploring local parks with her dog Shamus.

Dr. Emily Dirr is currently licensed to practice in Ohio, Florida, and Iowa. She has interests in large animal internal medicine and caring for geriatric pets as they age.
