About Vet

I am a veterinarian with 22 years of experience practicing veterinary medicine! Born and raised in California, I left the country after high school to study Veterinarian Medicine in Mexico at the University of Colima. After college, I was accepted into a prestigious Small Animal medicine and surgery specialty school at the University of the State of Mexico. While attending the three-year specialty school, I was an assistant professor in clinical animal surgery.

In 2006, I relocated back to the United States in lovely Arizona. I had to complete five certification exams administered by the American Veterinary Medical Association to practice medicine in the USA. This process is one of the most rigorous examinations used to evaluate the skills and knowledge of foreign veterinarian graduates.

For the past 19 years, I have worked at a well-established clinic in Gilbert, performing tasks from general medicine to surgery/orthopedic. For the past thirteen years, I have been a sole practitioner at a unique veterinarian clinic dedicated to integrative medicine, such as physical rehabilitation, non-pharmaceutical pain management, nutrition, weight loss, and regenerative medicine.

I feel truly blessed to have achieved my childhood dream of becoming a doctor, and I am grateful for the trust my clients express in me. I treasure my relationships with clients over the years, being their advisor and their pet's advocate. For the past 22 years, I have seen my clients with joy and excitement, bringing their new family members for a check-up and seeing these family members through their years. My main advice to my clients is to be well-informed to make well-informed decisions.

I would be honored to assist you with any concerns or questions regarding your pet's health. Through Vetster telemedicine, I may be of use for GI and UTI and respiratory problems, allergies, skin conditions, ear infections, antiparasitics, behavioral issues, pain, nutrition/diets, supplements, weight loss, and arthritis management, as well as any questions regarding current medical conditions and medications or second opinions.

Dr. Montes is the only vet who has explained the prolonged use of prednisone for my houndie and offered an alternative plan. He also offered recommendations as to her aging needs, which I truly appreciate.

My first time having an online vet appt. I sent photos and emailed him prior to her appt. Dr. Montes reviewed my email and pics during her appt. Dr. Montes was great. He was familiar with my pets issues before the call, went over the concerns, his history and expressed the possibilities of what could be wrong. It is always great when you feel they are listening and not rushing you to get off of the call. His calm and kind demeanor was also helpful. I’m so glad I was able to get a call in on a Sunday night and rest easy. Would highly recommend!
