About Vet

Welcome! I have 3 decades of experience working with dogs & cats, and occasionally other small mammals, reptiles & birds. I enjoy giving advice and helping pet owners.

I currently practice in Nashville, TN, and my special interests are in optimizing quality of life, at every stage; wellness/preventative care; general health education; and hospice/palliative care.

As an animal RN, I am unable to diagnose or prescribe medication. I offer tele-health and triage advice only.

My veterinary technical & nursing experience is evenly split between Family/Primary and Specialty Practice, specifically emergency, critical care, neurology, orthopedics, internal medicine, wildlife rehabilitation, and hospice. I've practiced Veterinary Telehealth since March 2020.

I earned an AAS in Veterinary Technology from Oklahoma State University; and a BA in Letters from the University of Oklahoma.

I also completed externships in Emergency Nursing at Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston, MA; Intensive Care Nursing at the Boren Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Stillwater, OK; and Environmental Enrichment Therapy at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, OKC, OK.

When not practicing veterinary nursing, I have fun with side gigs in photography, music production, and graphic design. I enjoy vegetarian cooking, gardening, spending time outdoors, travel, and improving my chess game. My Nashville home is filled with houseplants, music, garden-to-table cooking, the subtle struggles of a new book-writing effort, and my few, cherished pets.

My concern for my cat Morgan is that he has been losing weight, and all testing has shown no medical cause. He seems to be healthy - playful, affectionate, etc. So the issue is getting enough food (calories) in him to stop his weight loss, and actually gain. Laura gave me some really practical strategies for achieveing this, which is fantastic, because so often the advice that is given isn't necessarily doable for some pets. I feel that this might actually, if not completely, solve the issue of his weight loss, and take SO much stress out of my life. Every meal that he nibbles at or walks away from causes me worry that he is losing more weight by not eating it. And he is already so small that he just doesn't have any weight left to lose.
