Dr. Julie Napier

Dr. Julie Napier is a 1999 graduate of Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to that, she obtained a Bachelor's degree at Colorado State University before working for The Walt Disney company for nine years. After deciding to continue her education and graduation from veterinary school, Dr. Napier practiced small animal, exotic, and emergency medicine for two years before obtaining her first position as an associate veterinarian in a zoo. She has worked at Disney's Animal Kingdom, Potawatomi Zoo in Indiana, Zoo New England in Boston, and retired from zoo and wildlife medicine as the Senior Veterinarian for Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium in 2019. Since then, she has worked in domestic, zoo, and exotic pet medicine in a clinical and consulting capacity. Not only does she work with dogs and cats, she has extensive experience with birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, rabbits, pot-bellied pigs, goats, and pocket pets. Her special interests include geriatric medicine, nutrition, husbandry, and animal welfare. She is licensed in Iowa, Nebraska, New Jersey, and New York. Dr. Napier loves to travel (four continents and over 35 countries so far!), read, and spend as much time outdoors as possible, preferably camping with her two Scottish terriers, and visiting National parks. She is an avid conservationist and has rescued 21 senior dogs to date.
