About Vet

✦ Veterinary Neurologist & Neurosurgeon ✦

✦ Compassionate & Convenient Care ✦

✦ Alleviate Fears About Your Pet ✦

Specialties include the conservative management of the following: seizures, back issues (pain, wobbliness, inability to walk, etc), dizziness/vertigo, cognitive dysfunction, etc.

You are welcome to reach out to me to discuss other areas of veterinary medicine, but if you want expert neurological advice without the in-person appointment and pressure to pursue expensive diagnostics, then I'm the veterinarian for you.

Due to regulatory limitations between various states in which I am licensed, I am greatly limited in what I am able to prescribe through Vetster, but will provide information for your family veterinarian to continue care of your beloved pet with customized recommendations. Follow up is also very limited and unavailable through this program, but more information can be found on my website.

Please reach out for scheduling beyond the above available times at my website:

Dr. Ilyssa Meren received her DVM from Cornell University in 2013. She then went on to complete a small animal rotating internship at The Animal Medical Center in NYC. After this, she went on to complete a Neurology & Neurosurgery residency at Iowa State University (with a little bit of her residency spent at the University of Illinois as well). Since she finished her residency in 2017, she has been living in Phoenix, AZ where she has worked as a private practice neurologist as well as a locum neurologist all over the country in both academia and private practice. She is currently exclusively working as a tele consultant as well as doing some occasional locum for the local veterinary school.

Ilyssa’s interests in neurology started as a little girl with a childhood epilepsy syndrome. As she grew up, she had a strong passion for helping both people and animals, which eventually led her to veterinary school. It was there she discovered neurology as a specialty within veterinary medicine and the rest is history. She loves the puzzle of neurolocalization and the challenge of managing difficult to control epilepsy patients. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, photography, and all things cats.
