Since childhood, I knew my calling would take him into veterinary medicine. Much of my youth was spent getting up early and staying up late, tending to animals of all shapes and sizes on my family-owned dairy farm. Those experiences sparked my interest in animal health and welfare and led me to seek an education and career in veterinary medicine. Following high school, I proceeded to the University of Illinois for four years of undergraduate and, subsequently, four additional years of graduate-level/veterinary medical studies.
Following graduation, my career has taken me to a variety of locations and practices, ranging from a rural/farm animal/mixed animal practice in Ohio to an urban Emergency and Specialty Center in Madison, WI. Over the years I have been able to turn these numerous experiences into a broad knowledge base that I now use to help better serve my patients.
I truly love that veterinary medicine has so many moving parts. On any given day, I am a surgeon, dermatologist, gastroenterologist, radiologist, etc. I love the fact that I can wear all of those hats and use those skills to help make the lives of our pets better. I also enjoy the fact that medicine is always changing, and thus I constantly have to learn. In doing so, I am able to provide the best standard of care to our four-legged family members!
Outside of work, Dr. Dan can usually be found lifting weights in the gym, trying a new restaurant, hiding his nose in a book, hiking/biking with his family, watching a movie, or (in the winter) out snowboarding!
