About Vet

Hello pet parents!

BACKGROUND: My name is Dr. Annette LePere - you can call me Dr. Annette or just Annette! I have been a small animal vet practicing in the Los Angeles and Orange County, CA areas for 20 years. We just made a huge and wild move to the Tampa Bay area in Florida at the end of 2022 and are absolutely loving it! I am currently licensed in California & Florida (both states which DO NOT allow me to prescribe any medications through Telehealth appts.) I graduated from University of Pennsylvania Vet School in 2002, and completed an internship in Internal Medicine & Surgery at VCA West LA Animal Hospital in 2003. I have practiced in both clinical and mobile settings. In 2019 I became certified in Hospice and Palliative Care and started a mobile practice (Pacific at Home Pet Hospice and Euthanasia) to focus on geriatric pets and end of life care. My clients have appreciated my practical approach to their pet care, and hopefully I can give you some advice that you would find helpful as well!

ABOUT ME: I love people and have always had a passion for really educating pet owners on the how and why of their pets ailments and veterinary recommendations. Vet visits can be very costly, overwhelming, and downright scary and it can feel awful to spend a lot of money when you don't understand WHY you are doing it. It's important for pet parents to be a large part of the discussion and problem solving of whats going on with their pets, then together work with their vet team to come up with a solution or plan that works for everyone.

MY VET PASSIONS:

  • Geriatrics/End of Life: My favorite patients to help are the older ones - I just love love love the old kitties and doggies! I have a passion for compassionate end of life care and love to give people the tools and information to let their senior pets live their best life ever!
  • Dentistry: I love all things teeth related, and much of my private practice years focused on dental care, including challenging decisions to be made regarding anesthesia and advanced dental procedures in frail or high risk pets.
  • (I am not particularly against them fyi.)
  • Ears: I love helping people understand their pets ears and how to appropriately clean and manage chronic ear infections. There are a lot of OTC products that could be helpful in these cases and its good to understand when and how to use them.

CA & FL RULES: Please note that California and Florida are states that DO NOT ALLOW PRESCRIPTIONS to be made through this platform. I can answer your questions, help guide you with what may be going on with your pet, help determine if an ER visit is necessary and provide second opinions. If there are OTC products that might help I can recommend those with dosing guidelines, however if your pet will need Rx medications then you will have to bring them in person to your regular veterinarian.
