About Vet

Dr. Amber Hinson graduated from Colorado State University's College of Veterinary Medicine and Biological Sciences in 2005 with honors. After graduation she completed a grueling one-year equine medicine and surgery internship at Brandon Equine Medical Center in Florida with a focus on performance horses.

After her internship, Dr. Hinson spent several years working in mixed animal practices all around the United States treating a wide variety of animal species including birds, pocket pets, reptiles and wildlife. She then transitioned to shelter medicine and high volume, high quality spay/neuter practice.

Dr. Hinson has spent the last 9 years working internationally. Some of her travels have taken her to places like Iraq, Afghanistan, Qatar, Tasmania, Belize, Palau, Alaska and the Marshall Islands. She has also spent a few summers teaching pre-veterinary students in both Thailand and South Africa.

Dr. Hinson started her own NGO called World Tails which works to provide veterinary care to animals in under-served areas all over the globe with a primary focus in Africa.

Professionally, her main areas of interest are soft tissue surgery, dentistry, preventive medicine and client education. In her free time, Dr. Hinson loves to travel, hike, camp and drink coffee. Her favorite pastime though is spending time with her husband Chris. They live half the year in South Africa and are in the process of building a small tented safari camp on their property in the Kruger National Park.
