Hello, I'm Dr. Teaha Chestnut, Nutrition Focus. Since graduating from Kansas State University in 2011, helping pet parents decipher the information and misinformation about cat and dog nutrition has been an area of interest for me. My favorite appointments have always been nutrition consults and answering seemingly simple questions (that aren't really simple at all) like: "What is the best pet food or treats for Fluffy, and what can I look for on the food label?" "Should I cook for Jackson, or feed a raw or grain free diet?” "How can I get Rover to lose weight?" I still remember walking up and down the food aisles in Pet smart when I got my first dog 16 years ago, feeling completely overwhelmed and unable to make sense of it all. Unfortunately, pet nutrition is just as complex and the availability of misinformation is even more available than it was back then. However, guiding pet parents to understand this very important topic is the most fulling part of my career. Due to state regulations, I am UNABLE TO OFFER PRESCRIPTIONS, but would love to offer advice and answer all of your nutrition-related questions. If you do live in a state that allows prescriptions, your pet MUST be with you during our meeting to be eligible for prescriptions. NO EXCEPTIONS- it’s the law.
