Hello! My name is Laura Zemanek, and I have been a registered veterinary technician for 11 years (and I worked as a vet assistant for two years prior while I went to school).
I have a background in small animal medicine (dogs and cats), and also taught for a veterinary technician program for about 2.5 years. I currently have a Pit Bull Benny, an Airedale Terrier Bo, and two cats Eve and Goose (Eve only has 3 legs). In the past I have also had guinea pigs, gerbils, mice, fish, and an axolotl.
Why I work for Vetster: I have a special needs child, which means about a third of my life is spent at his doctor and therapy appointments. My friend referred me to this job (she was a vet tech instructor at the college we both worked at) because she knew it would give me the ability to make all of his appointments and still do something I am passionate about. I love health education and animals, and I am excited to work with you!
Education: AAS for veterinary technician BS in geology MS in geology
Other past experience with animals: dog groomer, kennel work, pet store employee, and animal shelter volunteer (this is the best way to find your new family member by the way!). I spent a lot of time attending animal behavior seminars for my CE credits, and have started learning more about nutrition and holistic care.
There is so much more I can say about myself and my love for animals, but I don't want you to spend all day reading my post. I will wrap it up with saying I do not think it is possible for me to love animals any more than I currently do. I also know the stress that comes when a pet is not doing his or her best. Let me know if you want to talk!
