About Vet

Hello, my name is Dr. JaCiara Johnson.  I am a veterinarian/mom/wife/Sacramento native with over 15 years of animal and veterinary related experience. I have a doctorate in veterinary medicine from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary medicine and a Bachelor’s Degree in GWS and Black studies from Pomona College. My range in educational background allows me to be conscious of diverse issues that impact our pets and access to veterinary care. I value a veterinarian to patient relationship in and outside the veterinary hospital. With the current crisis, it is difficult and even unsafe for many clients to go to the hospital. I am here to provide support so that owners can make educated decisions about their pets care, decide if their pets' problems are minor vs. urgent vs. emergent, and clarify concerns/questions regarding their pet’s overall wellbeing. My ultimate goals are to use my knowledge and skillset to evaluate your pet, and provide modern; convenient, honest, and empathetic ways to keep your pet healthy and “happy.” It is my life goal to preserve the bond between human and animal.

Vetster is a great tool because it allows: 1)    Clients to access experienced veterinarians in a less expensive and more convenient way via chat, text, phone call or video message. 2)   Allows triage (assess degree of urgency or emergency), rechecks and follow up communication to be completed without significant cost, travel or time. 3)   Encourages and facilitates communication between clients/patients  and their veterinarian (i.e. how medications, therapies are working and affecting their pet) 4)   Avoids a crowded scary location for your pet!  No more taking time out of your busy schedule, finding and wrestling your pets into the car to come into the office for a 5 minute appointment. 5)   Finally it makes your vet happy too! Vetster can allow us to answer questions in a convenient way, save us time, prevent appointment cancellations,  prevent frustration with office travel,  and allow better communication and compliance for pet medications, training, and at-home therapy.
