About Vet

My experience with Vetster featured on the Vetster blog: https://vetster.com/en/blog/for-vets/vet-spotlight-dr-levisman-is-a-true-vetster-star-with-1500-vetster-reviews-and-counting

I have 20+ years of experience in veterinary medicine (general practice, emergencies and specialties), working at veterinary hospitals, centers and clinics all over the Los Angeles area (and other countries too).
My specialties are general medicine and nephrology (kidneys and urinary tract) and I am currently pursuing my board certification in Internal Medicine.

My professional career has been quite a journey. I got my Veterinary degree in 2004 from the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina. I then decided I wanted to move to the States, but applying (and getting) a working visa back in those days was not an easy task. After finally finding a sponsorship and three attempts later, I was able to relocate to Los Angeles, CA. In order to live and study for my USA/CA license, I worked as a technician while passing my exams. Finally, in 2012, I officially became a DVM in the USA! But..(there's always a but) my working visa only allowed me to work as a tech. At the same time, I met my future wife (Argie too). We decided to move back temporarily to Argentina in order to obtain our Green Cards. We spent three years down there, obtained our Green Cards and once again (this time for good) we settled in Los Angeles. Since then, I've been practicing Veterinary Medicine in small animals as an associate doctor, along with one of the most well-known veterinarians in Los Angeles (also on the side, working as a relief Vet).

Current regulations regarding the VCPR (Veterinarian-Client-Patient-Relationship), only allow me to prescribe medications to patients residing in CA. Therefore, only Telehealth advice and suggestions for OTC medication are possible for non-CA patients.

We greatly appreciate Dr. Levisman's detailed insights into the possible stroke or seizure that our cat-son had, how his kidney disease's treatment factors in, and especially his advice about giving him a fighting chance to move past the stroke. Dr. Levisman has helped us make an informed choice about our cat-son's care and how best to make decisions for him. Thank you, Dr. Levisman!

My experience with the veterinarian was informative and caring. They explained the situation with my dog and discussed possible treatment options. I appreciated the time they took to review everything and help me understand what to expect moving forward.

Helped walk me through what he believed was going on with my dog, the possible paths for treatment. He recommended starting with a less is more approach as to not overprescribe, while still leaving the option to use stronger medications if needed. Very happy with our visit.
