About Vet

A native Albertan with over 10 years experience. My interests include internal medicine, geriatric and end of life care. I love older pets and managing their chronic diseases or just working to keep them comfortable with the aging process. I also have a keen interest in feline medicine including feline problem behaviours such as house soiling, aggression, over grooming, vocalizing and cognitive decline (going senile).

I obtained my Bachelors of Science in Biology at the University of Calgary before moving on to vet school in the Caribbean. I have worked in feline only practice, rural practice and house call practice. I am a member of the AbVMA, CAVM, CVMA, ISFM and AAFP

Dr. Destinee Dummer is very knowledgeable she provided a lot of suggestions that I can try before jumping into meds. I will definitely keep this service in place.

Our dog had been diagnosed with a terminal illness and I wanted an opportunity to understand more about the prognosis, comfort care and end of life decisions. The conversation covered difficult topics but they were handled professionally, with kindness and empathy. I received even more information and guidance than I expected in a half hour visit and now feel much better prepared to support our dog through this part of her life. Thank you!!

Destinee was great! Awesome help! Thank you! App rating: Was disappointed to hear that I got matched with a vet in Alberta although I picked the Halifax region. The help would have gone further had we been in the same location as I thought we were

She was very knowledgeable and empathetic. Bumped up cat’s appointment time as symptoms were concerning. Rushed him into urgent care.
