Hi there. I'm Dr. Sarah and I love to help pets and their families!
I am a small animal veterinarian with over 25 years of clinical experience. I have been active in both general and emergency practice, founded my region’s first holistic pet care practice, and am currently operating Durham Region’s first veterinary practice dedicated to palliative, hospice, and end-of-life care for pets.
It is my honour to help families better understand their pet's health care needs and always listen to my patients' people so that we can work together to develop the best treatment plan for your pet.
I stay busy, I believe, not only due to the compassion I have for both my patients and their families but due to the wide range of veterinary treatments I offer. These can include acupuncture, spinal manipulation (or chiropractic), laser therapy, homeopathy, dietary consultation, and herbal therapy as needed to provide my patients with a truly integrated approach to veterinary care. Obviously, not all of these are available through telemedicine, but having a background in these treatments helps me to think 'outside the box' when developing treatment plans for my patients.
My true passion is helping to care for senior pets and those with terminal illnesses, providing them with the best possible quality of life, and when it is time, the best possible end of life.
My passion for caring for senior pets also led me to become an advocate for the veterinary use of cannabis and cannabinoid medicine. As a founding director and the president of the Canadian Association of Veterinary Cannabinoid Medicine, I have had the privilege of helping pet parents responsibly use cannabis-based products to improve their pets' overall quality of life, as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.
I look forward to helping you and your pet.
