About Vet

I qualified in 1991 and have worked in the UK since. I initially started in mixed practice in the Midlands (cattle, horses, cats and dogs) before switching to charity practice. I now work primarily with cats and dogs, a few small “furries” and occasionally wildlife. My career has also involved quite a bit of mentoring/teaching of vet students and new graduates. My workload includes routine and emergency medicine, most soft tissue surgery, some orthopaedics (not spinal) and animal welfare work.
I get a lot of satisfaction from explaining to pet owners what the possible cause of a condition might be, what the different treatment options might be or just simply what a particular condition is. I see my role through Vetster as being one where I can give you a clearer understanding about your pet’s health or existing illness (how it might be diagnosed, what treatment options are available) or just being able to clarify something you are unsure about. Hopefully this will give you a better understanding of your pet’s health when you are able to visit your own vet. It’s an opportunity, without being rushed, to ask whatever you want to. You might just want reassurance as to whether the symptoms your pet is exhibiting are urgent or not. I am not able to offer prescriptions or diagnostic tests but I will provide answers to your queries based on over 30 years’ experience. I am the proud owner of a poorly behaved Terrier and a cool cat!
