Vet Spotlight: Meet the Vetster RVTs
Deeply committed to delivering an industry-leading experience for our pet owners and veterinarians means having the right people on our team to help navigate the many questions that arise each day. Vetster employs registered veterinary technicians who have worked in clinics with hands-on experience to support a wide variety of needs within our business - from providing support to veterinarians, to connecting pet owners with the best veterinarian specializing in their pet’s needs, to providing pet health coaching and triage directly to pet owners.
What have you found to be most rewarding in working with Vetster?
Elle is based in Winnipeg, Manitoba with 4 pets and 9 years in clinical settings.
Elle: What I find most rewarding is the daily opportunity to help people and their pets access essential care that might otherwise be out of reach. Many pet parents face significant challenges when it comes to veterinary care. Whether it’s living in remote areas with few services, dealing with the impact of natural disasters like the hurricanes we saw in October, or navigating the ongoing shortage of veterinarians around the globe, the wait for an in-person appointment can feel endless—especially when a pet isn’t feeling well.
Every person at Vetster plays a crucial role in tackling these issues and helping these pets and pet parents. Our team, dedicated internal departments working behind the scenes, and our veterinarians all contribute to creating a much needed support system for pet parents. It’s inspiring and fulfilling to be part of a team that is truly making a difference in the lives of pets and their families!
What do you hear from veterinarians joining Vetster?
Becs joined us in 2022 and is our go-to for all animals on her hobby farm.
Becs: I regularly hear from veterinarians that Vetster allows them to enhance accessibility and convenience for pet owners while having the flexibility to create their own schedules. This platform provides vets with the ability to reach more clients and their pets, particularly those in remote areas or with pets that are hard to get into the clinic. They can do this all while streamlining appointments and reducing wait times for essential pet care.
Vetster also enhances follow-up care, chronic condition management, and quick consultations for minor issues, leading to greater efficiency in veterinary services and a better patient and pet experience. Vetster allows vets to provide care beyond their clinics, offering after-hours services and support when clinics are fully booked. Ultimately, Vetster is a valuable tool for vets dedicated to helping animals and delivering quality care, all while offering them a great and flexible work-life balance.
What are the support requests you see come through most often and how are you a part of their solution?
Never one to shy away from challenges, Eva has become renowned for her compassion for pets, clients and vets!
Eva: We handle a variety of support requests throughout our day-to-day workload. One of the ways we assist clients is through live chat where pet parents can reach out to us with any medical concerns they may have surrounding their pet. Our team of veterinary nurses will work with clients to help them better understand the issue, provide advice, and/or let pet parents know when a veterinarian's help is needed.
Our team also works hard to ensure clients have a smooth experience with our service from start to finish. That may include assisting a client in booking an appointment with a Vetster vet and helping to choose the right vet for their needs, assisting clients on how to order their medications, and providing technical support.
What do you enjoy most about working at Vetster?
Raneem is newer to our team joining in 2024, and quickly grew her skills in bringing pet parent coaching to the virtual platform.
Raneem: Working here has allowed me to experience great work-life balance. The flexibility has helped me manage my professional and personal commitments effectively, which has done wonders for my overall mental health. I get to work alongside a team of kind, supportive and hard-working humans which has made such a significant difference. The way everyone is so quick to help one another has created such a positive work environment and it’s so greatly appreciated.
Working with animals and contributing to their health and well-being has always been so rewarding but now knowing I get to be part of a team that can reach even more patients and their owners across Canada, the US and the UK has been amazing. Our feedback and opinions are always taken seriously, which helps us continuously improve the client experience. Knowing that our input can contribute to bettering our services and helping more pets makes the work even more fulfilling.
Working at Vetster has been such a joy and I can’t wait to see all the more wonderful things our team and company are going to accomplish!
How do Vetster RVTs contribute to the company’s success?
Nikita has 2 pets and just recently joined the customer experience team this past spring.
Nikita: Our team of RVTs play a crucial role in the Vetster workflow by bridging the gap between veterinary professionals and pet owners. Our expertise enhances the overall effectiveness of our telehealth services in many ways. We help in assessing and triaging the urgency of cases, ensuring that pets receive timely care based on their specific needs. We are skilled in conveying complex medical information to help pet owners better understand what is going on and are a big help in making sure clients feel informed and supported throughout the process. By providing valuable resources and educational materials, we empower pet owners to make informed decisions about their pets' health, fostering a culture of preventive care. Whether an appointment is recommended at the end or to monitor at home, pet parents have a better understanding of what to expect come time to speak with their vet.
Overall, our contribution as RVTs is essential. Our skills ensure that our telehealth services maintain high standards of care, ultimately leading to better health outcomes for pets.
