At Vetster, we’re always looking for ways to improve the quality of care pets receive, and compliance around prescriptions. We understand that the directives veterinarians provide are critical to promoting overall pet health.
VetsterRx fulfilled by PetMedsⓇ for US veterinarians is one way that we have made it easy for veterinarians to streamline the prescription process, improving the client’s ability to obtain and comply with your professional medical directives.
VetsterRx fulfilled by PetMedsⓇ is the go-to solution for direct-to-home prescription and product fulfillment. But on occasion, we understand there are special circumstances, including client preferences, where alternative options are needed - such as picking up a prescription at a local human pharmacy on a weekend. That’s when the VetsterRx freeform prescription pad comes into play.
We’re excited to announce new updates that simplify the prescription process - saving you time and helping to ensure your clients get what they need quickly!
What’s new
We’ve upgraded our prescribing features to make it easier for your clients to manage freeform prescriptions directly through the Vetster platform:
- Clients choose where they’d like their prescription sent - PetMeds, a local pharmacy, or alternate location, right within the app.
- Vetster then processes the script and sends it to the pharmacy of choice. You no longer need to call in prescriptions or ask the Vetster support team. Our platform will manage this automatically.
- You will only be contacted by Vetster if there is a question or if a change to a script is needed.
Why this matters
Your time is valuable! When VetsterRx fulfilled by PetMedsⓇ isn’t an option, these changes for prescribing will reduce your post-appointment administration and back-and-forth with pharmacies.
For your clients, we are providing flexible options to ensure they can get their medication as quickly as possible and/or from their preferred pharmacy. This will improve compliance with your care plan and will be noted in their file.
What you need to know
When you need an alternative to VetsterRx fulfilled by PetMedsⓇ, click on the three dots next to the search field and select “Add a freeform prescription”. Please note this is where all recommendations should go, including prescriptions, diets, and OTC items to facilitate records maintenance. Please fill in the prompts as necessary, including checking ‘Yes’, ‘No’, or ‘Don’t know’ for if the prescription can be filled at a human pharmacy. This helps ensure prescriptions are sent to the right place without unnecessary delays.
After the appointment, you can track the status of each prescription in real time: labels such as "Requested," "In Progress," or "Sent to Pharmacy" will appear once the client takes action. If no label is present, the client has yet to make a request. For more details, simply hover or tap on the status label.
