At its southern end is the Tom Brown Dog Park, close to Lake Leon and the park’s various nature trails. There is a separate area for large and small dogs, and each area has their own double-entry and exit gates. Note that while the dog park is fully fenced in, it can be jumped by dogs that can jump high. If your dog is good at jumping, it’s best to keep a close eye on them and avoid fences.
2. Bradfordville Dog Park
Bradfordville Dog Park is the biggest dog park in the county. At about 13 acres of play area, this dog park has enough space for your dog to get the exercise it needs. This off-leash dog park is spacious enough for lots of running, jogging, and playing. For humans, there is lots of shade and seating. The dog park is also located adjacent to the Bradfordville Community Center. Note that Bradfordville Dog Park is located adjacent to stormwater ponds. These ponds are meant to filter water before they run off into bodies of potable water. This means that the ponds are not suitable for your pet. Likewise, there are heavily wooded areas that might house wildlife. Both of these areas are fenced off for your pet’s safety. If your pup does get into the water, you are highly encouraged to rinse off your dog.

Cascades Park is one of the most popular parks in the city for locals, tourists, and their dogs. This spacious 24-acre park has plenty of amenities. This includes playgrounds, commemorative fountains, and The Edison, a beautiful restaurant located inside a former power plant from the 1920s. Perhaps the most popular feature is The Adderley Amphitheatre, which can seat 3,500 people and regularly holds events for the city. There’s also plenty of fun for your dog. Stop by The Edison for a snack, and you can sit at one of their many pet-friendly outdoor tables. You can also take a walk on 2.3 miles of winding trails. For history buffs, this park has various commemorations and memorials detailing the rich history of Cascades Park.
4. Alfred B. Maclay State Gardens State Park
This picturesque property dates back to 1923. It sits on the shores of Lake Hall and Lake Overstreet. As its name implies, the Alfred B. Maclay Garden State Park has beautiful gardens. It’s best to visit from January to April to catch the flowers in full bloom.While the gardens themselves are off limits to dogs, there are plenty of other activities to do with your dog on the park grounds. Though this park is not off-leash, you can still check out their various nature trails, have picnics, view the wildlife, or just enjoy the sights in this park with your furry friend.
5. Lake Jackson Mounds Archaeological State Park
For those who love history, this is the park for you. Lake Jackson Mounds Archeological State Park is considered to be one of the most important archeological sites in Florida. It used to be the capital of the chiefdom and the ceremonial center of the Fort Walton culture. While this park is not off-leash, there are plenty of activities to do with your up. It is built on flat, sandy terrain, and there are two nature trails you can take. One is flat and has poop bags, water fountains, and benches available.
