The Kinderhook Dog Park is a dog park within Volunteer Park, a popular park in Kinderhook and Valatie. This dog park offers two separate areas — one for small dogs and one for large dogs — as well as six-foot fencing and fresh water available for both dogs and humans. Dog tags are required to use the dog park. You can get an application at the dog park or at the Kinderhook Town Hall.
2. Athens Bunker Hill Dog Park
If you’re going south of Albany, you may be interested in checking out the Athens Bunker Hill Dog Park, which is technically located in Athens. While there are no water sources directly at the park, you can find doggy waste bags, park benches, and a gazebo to sit at and enjoy the beautiful park. There are nine acres to play in, and dogs only need general licensing to visit.
3. Washington Park
Washington Park is a historic 136-acre park in Albany that’s known for its variety of available features and events. If you’re looking for a great place to walk around with your dog, Washington Park is an excellent option. It’s exceptionally dog-friendly and provides plenty of trails, but it is not an off-leash dog park. There are no off-leash areas available on the park’s premises, and you need to bring your own waste bags to clean up after your dog.

The Olde English Downtown Dog Park is easy to spot, owing to its large mural, which is present along one side of the park. It’s fully fenced, allowing dogs to stay safe throughout the area, and provides waste bags for cleaning up after your dog. It’s moderately sized, so it is large enough for dogs to enjoy running around, regardless of how large they are, and the park allows well-behaved dogs of all sizes in its main area.

You’ll find the Hartman Road Dog Park right next to a local community garden, making it a prominent location for dogs to play and owners to socialize. Water is available during the spring and summer months, and doggy pools are also frequently available throughout the summer. There are also waste bags available on-site for picking up after your pet.
