Aurora West Dog Park is located on a 715-acre forest preserve surrounded by nothing but nature. The park is perfect for dogs that enjoy hikes, as the trails are long and peaceful. There aren’t any obstacles and the area is wide enough that every pet owner and pet has a good amount of space to enjoy. There is no fence anywhere in the park, so only take your dog if it is very obedient so it doesn’t run off.
2. Lincoln Park Dog Park
Lincoln Dog Park is located within Abraham Lincoln Park. The dog park is a fenced area with separate spaces for big and small dogs. There are park benches scattered all over the park and there’s more than enough room for your dog to run around freely. Waste bags are provided by the park and all owners are required to clean up after their dogs. There are water bowls everywhere so your dog can cool down after running.
3. Phillips Dog Park
Phillips Dog Park is the best place to go if you want to give your dogs space to run around while still keeping an eye on them. The park is big, but not overwhelmingly big. There are waste stations available at the park, as well as double entry and exit gates. There are no designated areas for big and small dogs, but if there is a conflict between two dogs, there are two separate doggie time-out corners you can place them in until they cool down. Only two dogs are allowed per person in the park.
4. Gregory Island Dog Park
Gregory Island Dog Park is bordered by the Fox River on both sides. It’s the perfect dog park to go to if your pet loves swimming and splashing around in the water. The fence at the park does not go all the way around, so only consider visiting if your dog isn’t the type to run off. There are waste stations and water fountains available, and there’s a small dog area for pups under 25 pounds. All dogs that enter the park must have their rabies tag on.
5. Stuart Sports Complex Dog Park
Stuart Sports Complex Park is located at the top of the Stuart Sports Complex, past the many sports fields. In the park, you’ll find agility equipment that dogs can run on and many park tables. This park does not allow any food or dog toys whatsoever and all dogs must wear their rabies tag while at the park. The park is closed from November to April when the sports season starts.
Take your dog to the perfect park in Aurora
Every dog parent wants their pet to have a good time while at the dog park. However, no matter how well-behaved a dog may be, animals are unpredictable and miscommunication happens all the time between dogs. That’s why it’s best to be prepared for anything before taking your dog to a dog park. If you need advice on how to train your dog and prepare it for the dog park, book a virtual vet appointment with a Vetster veterinarian.
