Cat health symptoms

Bad breath (also known as halitosis) in cats is an unpleasant odor emanating from the oral cavity.

Blindness in cats can appear varies in severity and can include partial or full blindness. Cats are especially good at learning their environment and adapting to vision loss, so detection of vision loss can be difficult.

A bloated abdomen (abdominal distension) describes the symptom of enlargement or swelling of the abdomen in cats, which is triggered by a wide variety of normal and abnormal processes. Abdominal distension is a feature of many conditions ranging from injury, infection, tumors, and disease of specific organs such as the liver and heart.

Blood in the urine is a common symptom in cats and it can have a multitude of causes which vary from mild to deadly if left untreated

Blood in the feces is a common finding in many conditions which range in severity from mild to life-threatening. In most cases, bleeding is due to conditions of the gastrointestinal tract itself, such as injuries, tumors, infectious diseases, or inflammation.

Blue gums are the most noticeable symptom of cyanosis. Cyanosis is the blue or purple discoloration of mucous membranes or skin caused by poor oxygenation.

The cornea is the transparent cover over the front of the eye. When inflamed, it swells with fluid (edema), and becomes cloudy. Corneal edema may appear as a hazy, blue, or milky opacity covering the surface of the colored part of the eye.

Feline skin can break open and ooze blood, clear fluid, or pus due to an injury, infection, or illness.

In cats, gums normally appear to be smooth with a salmon-pink color. Red gums or gums spotted with a brown, bright pink, red, or purple coloration are caused by hemorrhage of the mucosal surface called petechiae or ecchymosis.
