Cat health conditions

A cat is considered obese when its weight exceeds 20% of its estimated ideal body weight.

Organophosphates (OPs) and carbamates (CMs) are compounds commonly found in agricultural pesticides, herbicides, as well as flea and tick collars. Toxicity occurs following ingestion or skin exposure. Organophosphate or carbamate poisoning is a life threatening emergency requiring immediate veterinary care.

Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease where the joint cartilage is destroyed over time.

Osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) is a condition in cats where a piece of cartilage breaks off the end of a bone and becomes lodged in the joint. OCD is extremely rare in cats, so information about presentation, diagnosis, and treatment is based on data about dogs.

Otitis externa is inflammation of the external part of the ear canal. In cats, otitis externa is most commonly caused by ear infections and the terms are often used synonymously.  

Ovarian tumors describe several types of abnormal masses which grow on the ovaries and associated connective structures. These are rare in cats and are most prominent in unspayed, older female cats.
