Welcome!

What can a virtual visit provide? 1.) Tele-triage: advice for urgent emergency care 2.) Tele-advice: general advice about disease processes and potential outcomes and options for providing care 3.) Tele-medicine: diagnosis, treatment and prescribing and adjusting medication

Scheduling a virtual visit for your pet provides a 1-on-1 consultation with Dr. Hannah Curtis. The virtual visit offers a comfortable space to express concerns and ask specific questions. Discussing your pet's unique situation can help to appropriately assess your pet's current quality of life, address disease challenges, better understand the natural dying process, and help you decide the best care for your pet.

How to prepare: Find a quiet, comfortable space where you, your pet and the doctor can sit together. Gather your pet's recent/relevant medical records, medications, and a list of your specific questions and concerns.

What to expect: First, we will discuss your questions, concerns and expectations. We will go over your pet's home life and activities, recent/relevant medical history, medications and the doctor will virtually examine your pet.

Together we will assess your pet's current quality of life using several forms of measurement. We will discuss what quality of life means, how to recognize a decline in quality of life, and how to know when your pet is experiencing pain or discomfort. The doctor will provide you with your options for moving forward, including recommendations for comfort care at home including supplements, medications, and/or other therapies. The doctor will explain potential expectations for each option and will help you form a plan for moving forward with care for your pet.

Signs that a consultation may be beneficial for your pet: difficulty getting up/lying down needing assistance with mobility, or assistance with urinating or defecating steps or posturing to urinate or defecate slipping and falling experiencing incontinence (urinary or fecal) not acting themselves or appearing confused getting lost around the house staring at walls increased anxiety restlessness at night or during the day inability to get comfortable lying down disinterest in walks shows less interest in their favorite things isn't eating as well as they once did sleeping more medication is not keeping them comfortable your pet was given a terminal, poor or grave prognosis by a veterinarian
