Plague is a potentially life-threatening bacterial infection caused by the Yersinia pestis bacteria which can affect different species, including cats and humans. Flea bites, contact with infected rodents, or inhalation of infected saliva droplets can transmit Y. pestis bacteria.

Zinc-responsive dermatosis is a group of syndromes in dogs where a lack of zinc or an inability to absorb zinc leads to damaged skin. This syndrome is caused by poor absorption of zinc in the small intestine, lack of zinc in the diet, or excess of minerals that block absorption of zinc.
Malassezia dermatitis is a skin inflammation caused by the fungus Malassezia pachydermatis. This fungus typically lives on dog’s skin without causing any harm.
Uveodermatologic syndrome in dogs is a rare grouping of symptoms that results from the autoimmune system attacking the pigment-producing cells in the eyes, hair, and skin. Symptoms include reddened, cloudy, painful eyes with diminished vision, and whitening of the coat and skin.
Hives (urticaria) are an uncommon condition where dome-shaped bumps (wheals) develop on a dog’s skin. Hives are most commonly caused by reactions to insect bites or allergies. Hives are rarely dangerous, although in severe cases swelling around the throat may impact breathing.

Joint infections, or septic arthritis, occur when bacteria or fungi are introduced into the nutrient-rich joint fluid, resulting in an infection. In dogs, joint infections typically develop after a wound occurs over or near a joint, but can also occur due to widespread bacterial infection in the body or after joint injections.
