About Vet

Dr. Sidaway has over 24 years of veterinary practice, business, and academic experience. He is board certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. He has expertise in orthopedic diseases of dogs and cats, sports medicine and physical rehabilitation, fracture repair, joint surgery, and minimally-invasive surgery. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, the Veterinary Orthopedic Society, and the Arizona Veterinary Medical Association. He has served on one of the Investigative Committees of the Arizona Veterinary Medical Examining Board.

Dr. Sidaway holds three academic degrees from Mississippi State University, including a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. He graduated as valedictorian of his veterinary class, was on the President's and Dean's List multiple times and was the recipient of several academic scholarships. He received numerous awards including the Dean's Pegasus Award (most outstanding graduate) and the American College of Veterinary Surgeons Small Animal Surgery Award. After graduation, he completed a Small Animal Medicine and Surgery internship at the University of Missouri-Columbia and then a small animal surgery residency at Mississippi State University. As a surgery resident, he received a prestigious research grant, the American College of Veterinary Surgeons Resident-in-Training Research Grant. With this funding, he studied biomechanics of the canine shoulder joint, some of the first work of its kind. Dr. Sidaway completed certification as a Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner in 2017 from the University of Tennessee and Fear Free certification in 2022.

Dr. Sidaway previously worked in general practice, in two private specialty hospitals, was a member of the veterinary faculties of both Mississippi State University and Midwestern University, and as a mobile veterinary surgeon. While a faculty member and in private practice, Dr. Sidaway has trained countless students, several dozen interns, and several surgical residents. He was the founding dean of Midwestern University's College of Veterinary Medicine and his most recent appointment there was as Associate Dean for Clinic Operations and Associate Professor of Surgery. While at Midwestern University, he helped start and open multiple components of the teaching hospital including the small animal surgery and physical rehabilitation services. He is the founder and CEO of Incise Veterinary Surgery, which is a veterinary consulting business.
