Dr Leah was born and raised in Vancouver and attended UBC for her undergraduate degree. In 1995 she graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (Saskatechwan) and started practicing at the same clinic in Vancouver where she did her pre-veterinary training. In 2000 she moved to Coquitlam and in 2001 purchased the Shaughnessy Veterinary Hospital. In 2016 she started the Meadow Brook Cat Clinic to fulfill her desire to practice in a cat-only environment. In July 2021, due to the global pandemic and the changes in the industry, the 2 clinics were consolidated in to the Riverwood Veterinary Clinic. Dr Leah continues to ONLY practice feline medicine and oversees the management of the RVC.
